01
Prepare the wall
A clean and smooth wall ensures better wallpaper adhesion and prevents visible imperfections.
Steps:
-
Wipe the wall with a damp cloth to remove dust.
-
Fill holes and cracks with filler, then lightly sand once dry.
-
If the wall is highly absorbent (bare plaster, new wall), apply a primer or dilute some wallpaper paste with water and apply a thin layer to "prepare" the surface.
Tip: If you don’t have a smoothing spatula for the filler, use an old rigid bank card or a plastic scraper."
02
Measure and cut the wallpaper strips
Why? Having well-cut strips in advance makes application easier and prevents mistakes.
Steps:
-
Measure the height of your wall and add a 5 to 10 cm margin (at the top and bottom).
-
Transfer this measurement onto your roll and cut the strips using scissors or a cutter.
-
Discreetly number them on the back if your wallpaper has a pattern to match.
Tip: If you don’t want to measure with a tape measure, place the roll directly along the wall and mark a reference point before cutting.

03
Apply the glue
Why? Unlike traditional wallpaper, non-woven wallpaper isn’t glued directly; it's the wall that gets the paste.
Steps:
-
Use a special non-woven wallpaper paste.
-
With a paint roller, apply the glue directly to the wall in a strip slightly wider than your first wallpaper strip.
-
For corners and edges, use a brush.
Tip: If you don’t have a roller, use a kitchen sponge to spread the glue evenly.
04
Hang the first strip
Why? A good alignment from the first strip prevents shifts across the entire wall.
Steps:
-
Draw a vertical reference line using a level or plumb line (or use the edge of a door as a guide).
-
Hang the first strip from top to bottom, letting it overlap slightly at the top and bottom.
-
Smooth it with your hand or a dry cloth from the center to the edges to remove air bubbles.
Tip: If you don’t have a level, download a level app on your smartphone or use a rigid book to draw a straight line.

05
Join the strips
Why? The strips must be perfectly aligned for a clean finish.
Steps:
-
Place the second strip edge to edge without overlap.
-
Check that the patterns match if necessary.
-
Always smooth from the center to the edges.
Tip: If air bubbles remain, gently lift the wallpaper and slowly reapply it. Don’t force it too much to avoid tearing.
06
Cut off the excess
Why? A clean finish gives a more professional appearance.
Steps:
-
Use a sharp cutter and a ruler or spatula to cut off the excess at the top and bottom.
-
Wipe the edges with a dry cloth to remove any excess glue.
Tip: If you don’t have a cutter, sharp scissors will work too. Apply slight pressure with a bank card before cutting to mark the precise spot.

07
Smooth and adjust
Why? To eliminate air bubbles and ensure good adhesion.
Steps:
-
Smooth the wallpaper: Use your hands, a dry cloth, or a spatula to press from the center to the edges to ensure the wallpaper sticks well.
-
Eliminate air bubbles: If they persist, gently lift the strip and reapply it by smoothing it out. For small bubbles after drying, pierce them with a fine needle and smooth with your finger.
-
Adjust the seams: Make sure the strips are edge to edge. If there is a gap, adjust before the glue dries.
Tip: A bank card or a clean sponge can replace the spatula to smooth the paper.
